Music

WHAT’S THE MUSIC LIKE?

Rock AND Roll.

We strive for diversity, with our core songs being rock and blues-based.  The band usually includes electric guitar, drums, bass, keys and several smashing vocalists. We focus on writing our own music, while we revamp old hymns, and borrow secular and Christian music that speaks to the message being shared.

Here’s our latest CD called #the40project.  These are all songs we play at worship.

BOOK ONE OF THE BANDS
A large part of the musical mission that Spirit Garage’s three bands embrace is not only bringing God’s message and inspiration to Spirit Garage’s Sunday gatherings, but to share that message with the community. Each of the bands brings their eclectic talents to various gigs around town throughout the year: worship services at various churches throughout the Twin Cities, church sponsored youth events, summer concert series at the Lake Harriet Band Shell or Minnehaha Falls Bandstand, and yearly performances at Open Streets.  All three Spirit Garage Bands are available to play your next special event or worship service. For more information or to check availability contact John Kerns at 612.296.6789 or email: kernsey@spiritgarage.org

ONE CHURCH, 3 BANDS

Beautiful Grey

Named after long Minnesota winters and brain matter, Beautiful Grey is fueled by big guitar 90’s alternative rock. Their influence by 90’s grunge and guitar rock is obvious and unabashed and the songwriting reflects what would have been heard on college radio in 1999.

Bass: Brandon Baity
Electric Guitar: Tim Dale, John Kerns
Vocals: John Kerns, Tim Dale

Revealed
God’s love is revealed to us through music.  Revealed has a big door of music diversity laying down smooth blues, hard rock, and melodic ballads. Weather playing an original tune or a cover, Revealed brings a classic rock passion and purpose to the music-centric worship experience.

Acoustic Guitar: JD Nelson
Bass: John Kerns
Electric Guitar: Eric Sneve
Drums: Steve Ruble
Vocals: Stephen Ruble, John Kerns, Marlie Nelson

3 on the Tree
The most sonically adventurous of the Spirit Garage Bands, 3 on the Tree can be described as a sacred cocktail of Rock and Roll and Classic Pop spiced with a heavy dose of Americana. Being the moody child, this band mixes it up with classics, current hits, as well as a strong catalog of original songs.  Their namesake of an odd gearshift arrangement is not at all a reflection of how they play.
Acoustic Guitar: Ben Dolmar
Bass: John Kerns
Electric Guitar: John Lawyer
Vocals: Erin Arndt, John Lawyer, Wade Barry, John Kerns
