People have been thinking about and studying God and the Bible forever. But, for a long time, only certain people’s voices were listened to, especially within Western Christianity. European men had a lot of good things to say (and some bad things!) But the voices of others were often silenced.

We’re missing out on the voices of Black voices, indigenous voices, people of color’s voices, queer voices and more. A variety of perspectives expands our ideas about who God is,  who god is for, and how God acts in this world. This year we’ll highlight some of these voices once a month on the third Sunday. You can read more about it on the blog.

On November 15th, we’ll hear from Lori Gordon. Lori and I first met working at a Bible camp in Northern Minnesota, where she served for several years as a naturalist. Currently she serves as a youth and family director in Cook, MN, but she’s also in seminary and will be doing her pastoral internship next year. She is passionate about “reclaiming” the Old Testament texts that have been used to divide and marginalize, and on this day she will reclaim the story of Sodom and Gomorrah found in Genesis 19.
