For those of you who like to read and talk, our latest book read is Amy-Jill Levine’s Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent. Levine is a Jewish woman and a New Testament scholar. (I’ll give you a minute…) So she brings a great lens to the Bible, pointing out what Jewish hearers (the original audience) would have understood about Matthew and Luke’s birth narratives.
