12.31.2023 Pancake Church @ Spirit Garage

Begin your New Year’s Eve celebration at Spirit Garage for Pancake church. Find a seat with someone who could become a new friend around a TABLE in the family room. We’ll do some of the normal parts of worship but we’ll also have conversations at the table and we’ll eat pancakes. Also, we’ll get new star words for the year! And when all that’s done, we’ll make some fleece blankets for My Very Own Bed. Super fun! All the fun begins at 10:30. See you there!

Different Lens with Rose McGee @ Meraki

During this worship service our message will be provided by Rose McGee, author of the new children’s book “Can’t Nobody Make a Sweet Potato Pie Like Our Mama!”, “Baketivist,” and  the Founder of the Sweet Potato Comfort Pie organization. The events in Ferguson were the beginning of Rose McGee’s special brand of “baketivism,” using food culture and other creative forms of relationship-building to create change in our world.

Since that fateful day, Sweet Potato Comfort Pie has continued to deliver much-needed connection, conversation and catalytic action among educators, leaders in positions of governance, communities experiencing recent trauma, youth and elders in cross-generational mentorship programs, and many others. Sweet Potato Comfort Pie Org’s  work includes healing, Community building, speaker series, arts, and a service scholar cohort.

Rose is a well-known facilitator, one of Minnesota’s 50 Over 50, a member of Women Who Really Cook, the Women’s Business Development Center, Golden Valley League of Women Voters, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and works as a Humanities Officer for Minnesota Humanities Center among many other accolades.
