Gospel according to Kernsey John Kerns Kernsey
Worship: The Gospel According to Kernsey (and Celebration of his ministry) @ Solomon's Porch

Each month lately we’ve been doing a “Gospel According to..[insert band/musician name here]” Sunday worship, when we use the music of one band or artist, in order to mine their music for Gospel messages. We’ve done the Foo Fighters, Indigo Girls, Lenny Kravitz, NeedtoBreathe, Dave Matthews Band, and more.

Now, our Minister of Music, John Kerns “Kernsey” for the last 25 years is moving on from Spirit Garage. He’s also written a lot of songs with Gospel in them, so for his final Sunday with Spirit Garage, we’ll do the Gospel According to Kernsey. There will be a handful of his Spirit Garage originals, with some set-up of the songs, telling the story of how they came to be and how they connect to the gospel, around the usual prayers and some scripture and communion.

After worship is over, we’ll have some time of celebration of Kerns’ ministry, along with one final set with the alumni band of the day.
